About the Program

John Williams, arguably the most renowned and prolific living film composer, captures the adventurous spirit and rugged landscape of the wild west in the 1972 motion picture The Cowboys. Renowned violinist Blake Pouliot joins us for Erich Korngold’s soaring Violin Concerto. Known for his lyrical film scores of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Korngold created a cinematic concerto that places our soloist in the spotlight. Brahms’s Fourth Symphony is a titan of the symphonic repertoire. In his final symphony, the composer weaves a musical narrative evoking both dramatic intensity and profound serenity delivering a concert finale of heightened emotion.
