The Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Linc Smelser, is a challenging and fun music education experience. The orchestra is made up of approximately fifty middle school and high school students.

RSYO is comprised of students from all across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, including Belvidere, Rochelle, Dixon, Pecatonica, Stillman Valley, Freeport, and Rockford. These musicians have a love of classical music and a desire to improve their skills while performing in an ensemble.
